GUR + Far Afield

Off-Cuts is a new series built around what remains from Far Afiled. Surplus fabrics, samples and materials from Far Afield collections are passed on to artists and makers we know, becoming the starting point for something new.

We worked with Far Afilde for their first edition of Off-Cuts.

Our studios in Bonfim sits a few streets from each other in Porto. Being in the same neighbourhood made GUR a natural place to begin.

We received from them a selection of surplus fabric samples from Spring/Summer ’26. We cut them into strips and took them to the loom.

The result is a limited edition of ten unique pieces each woven from its own selection of surplus fabric one-offs built around two Far Afield designs: Everything Is Great and Landscape.

All rugs by GUR are handmade.
Held in a traditional handloom with raw rag.
Embossing technique or colours overlaying.
Finished with basic sewing.
